Chief Legal and Compliance Officer
Osato Chitou currently serves as tricenna’s chief legal and compliance officer. In addition to supporting transactions and other legal and compliance matters, Osato works closely with the network in taking a preventive approach. Thus, tricenna is proactive rather than reactive in addressing problems. Osato also provides organizational guidance related to HIPAA, billing, payer relations, malpractice, and other issues faced by providers in this heavily regulated industry.
Osato has significant legal and compliance experience in the healthcare space. Her prior roles include serving as the medicare compliance officer for several multi-state payers that offered Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and special needs plans. She also served as the compliance officer for one of New Jersey’s largest regional care teaching hospitals. Additionally, Osato worked for the State of New Jersey, within the Department of Human Services, and was charged with overseeing managed care organizations market entry and exit, including MCO applications, close-out activities, and procurement cycles. Osato was also an associate in the Healthcare & Healthcare Privacy practice groups at Moses & Singer LLP. While there, her areas of concentration included state and federal health privacy issues and regulatory compliance with HIPAA and HITECH. Osato was a writer for The National Jurist and appeared as a featured guest on the award-winning talk show Good Evening Ghana. She serves as the immediate past president of the board of trustees of the alumni association for Rutgers School of Law-Newark, as well as on the board of directors for the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association, where she is co-chair of the Judicial Outreach Committee. Osato was also recently appointed to the Executive Committee of RISE, and will serve as advisory board chair for the Medicare Regulatory and Compliance Oversight Committee.
